“All disease begins in the gut.”
– Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine, 431 B.C.

What Hippocrates spoke over 2000 years ago, researchers studying the gut have confirmed. Healing starts in the digestive tract.

There are about 39 trillion bacterial cells in our body, the vast majority taking up residence in our gastrointestinal tract. Because of their small size, however, microorganisms make up only about 1 to 3 percent of the body’s mass (in a 154-pound adult, that’s ½ pound of bacteria), but play a vital role in human health.

For example, about 80% of our immune system and 95% of our serotonin (the feel-good hormone) resides in the gut. This highly complex system that absorbs and assimilates everything we eat and drink, affects every metabolic process, including hormone regulation, brain function, weight gain (yes, weight gain) & the immune response.

WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT IT?

We find that many factors including poor diet, insufficient nutrients, hormone imbalances (especially insulin), food sensitivities, undiagnosed infections, and physical or emotional stress can cause an inflammatory cascade throughout the body, especially in the gut. Using a functional medicine approach, we uncover the root causes & create a personalized program for your recovery.

If you recognize these symptoms or conditions, why not take 20 minutes to find out how we can help you?
